Meet Hana …

Hana studied Special Education and History in her hometown in Iraq. She taught in her field for four years before she was forced to leave everything she knew in order to escape war.

In 2007, Hana and her family moved to Boise to rebuild their lives.

Early on, Hana and her family, including brothers, Firas, Ali and Mustafa, worked and saved with the dream of starting their own cargo transport business. In 2013 Hana and her family were able to actualize their dreams with assistance from Jannus and an Economic Opportunity (EO)  business loan, to acquire a semi-truck and begin a family transportation LLC.

Owning her own business provides Hana and her family with more than just the freedom of being self-employed, she has gained assets, including a home, and brought revenue into our local economy.

Hana’s dreams have not ended with her successful transport company. She and her brothers have fond memories of helping their parents and playing in their market when they were children in Iraq. Hana opened a business much like the one her parents owned, complete with grocery, onsite-prepared baked goods, savory foods, desserts, Turkish coffees, Halal meats and more.

Food Land International Bistro & Market opened in October 2019 in the thriving central bench neighborhood of Boise.

Food Land International Bistro & Market offers a place for the community to gather, share ideas over a delicious meal or coffee– all while helping grow our local economy.
