Today – January 21 – marks the 21st anniversary of my son Tariq’s tragic passing. My heart at this time of the year does get heavy – not so much from grief or mourning but more from muscle memory. The work done in Tariq’s name was spawned as a result of this tragedy, and the gift was it put my family and me on our spiritual path and purpose. So I often ask if this was a tragedy or mystically meaningful? I guess it is both. After 21 years, I now find that the ache of the grief is soothed by the poignant joy of cherished memories and the good work being done in Tariq’s name. So that truly is a blessing! Thank you Tariq for this gift – love you dearly!
