This event was similar to the he USD event in April, except this one took place in front of 60 judges. The speakers were Judge Joan Weber, Ples Felix, Judge Peter Deddeh (who prosecuted Tariq’s case), Henry Coker (Public Defender who defended Tony) and me. All of the speakers were able to give their individual perspectives on the case that took place regarding Tony Hicks, the murderer of my son. The angle of forgiveness and restorative justice opened many eyes. As a result of these presentations, I have had several judges e-mail me saying that as a result of my presentation they CHANGED their sentencing remarks. So hopefully we will see judges demonstrate more compassion in the cases they render judgement.
